Judging Panel and Instructions

Directors who register students for the Region Band must be available to judge the 2nd Round if their student scores at or above the cutoff score. Directors who have a conflict must find a suitable replacement (at the discretion of the Region Band committee). Directors who fail to fulfill their judging requirement in a timely manner will have their students disqualified from being accepted into the band.

Similar to the All-State expectation, this is a professional obligation that must be fulfilled in order to make the South Georgia Region Honor Band a success.

There will be a panel for each instrument or family of instruments, and one judge from each district will be assigned to each panel. The panel of judges will be posted by 12/8/25. Panels will be sent videos/links by 1/21/26.

Be aware, Directors may be assigned a judging position regardless of whether or not they submit a form, depending on judging needs/numbers
 

Judge Instructions

Once panels are announced, each member of that panel will be emailed a link to a spreadsheet of all audition videos. Using the standard scoring form, each judge will watch each student submission, and record their score in the Score Submission Google Form.

Score submission date is 1/27/26.​

Once all scores are submitted, each individual judge will have their results averaged with the rest of their panel to create a final overall score.

From these scores, the South Georgia Region Honor Band will be set. If needed, alternates will be called at the discretion of the SGRHB Organizers
